Approximately 400 police officers descended on Echo Park Lake’s unhoused community last night.
Portraying the unhoused community as wayward hipsters is not only false but leads to real harm for the residents of Echo Park Lake.
The self-described “progressive” organization is working with CD13’s Mitch O’Farrell to ensure “permanent and 24/7 LAPD presence”
I checked in with the residents of Echo Park Lake, who have built a community of resources and support, to see how they’ve grown.
On January 24, Councilmember O’Farrell’s Chief of Staff was e-mailed Ashley Bennett’s business card. On February 3, Bennett was fired.
In violation of an LA City Ordinance, over 70 unhoused residents were forced to share access to one bathroom at night.
